As Co-Chair of Hebden Royd Business Forum I was honoured to be asked by Jan Garvey to judge the 2022 Hebden Bridge Breast Cancer Window Dressing Competition.
Whilst I had already seen a lot of businesses in the Town had supported the awareness and fund raising event, it was not until I had walked around all 94 window entries. did I realise just how many businesses had got behind the event and what a very powerful and colourful message was being sent to all who passed through the town.
Choosing a winner was nigh on impossible, we had corporates ignoring head office rules with pink balloons, ribbons and banners plus ingenious usage of the colour pink everywhere, be it socks, bras, dresses, hats, nipples on plates, re-painted, hand drawn or cut-out.
We had thought provoking messages in the funeral directors and elsewhere and eye catching items like the pink wetsuit, that brought a smile. We had competitions and offers all designed to focus the mind on the reason behind it all. We had it all!
However I was reminded by Jan, whose persistence and dedication in organising the event cannot be praised highly enough, that it was a window dressing competition, so for simplicity of message, eye catching display and pink pumpkins! the £100 first prize winner is Fleur De Lys florists on Crown Street!

However everyone involved should be commended for taking part and with the Breast Cancer Charity collecting tins out in Hebden Bridge businesses until the end of October 22, we hope a massive amount will be raised.
Sincere thanks from the Hebden Royd Business Forum to Jan and all the businesses who took the time and effort and a selection of photographs from the entries are displayed below as a reminder of their wonderful efforts.
