Due to the continued ice and snow, we are postponing tomorrow morning’s NetWalking event.

Sorry that this is a last minute change - we had hoped it would have thawed more by now. But we feel that the icy conditions could make the walk difficult and potentially risky.

We will confirm a new date in the coming weeks as soon as we can.

As we say goodbye to 2024, let’s not pretend it was all smooth sailing.

Businesses faced plenty of challenges—rising costs, supply chain issues, and let’s not forget this morning’s adrenaline-fueled moment when the flood sirens had us all reconsidering our choice of office carpets.

Thankfully, the water stayed where it belongs (mostly), and we can kick off 2025 with dry feet and big ambitions. 🤗

This year, we’re doubling down on collaboration and connection.
Expect more networking events, more opportunities to share ideas, and more chances to work together to ensure every business in our community thrives.

Whether you’re an early bird with a 7 a.m. coffee or a night owl sealing deals after dark, there’s a seat for you at the table.

The Tractor Run rolled through Hebden Bridge today, bringing festive cheer, twinkling lights, and plenty of smiles, all while raising funds for the incredible Forget Me Not Hospice.

After a challenging year for so many local businesses, this joyful event was exactly what we all needed; a reminder of the community spirit and togetherness that makes our valley so special.

A huge thank you to everyone involved in organising and taking part. Moments like this really do lift our spirits and remind us why we love calling this place home. 💜

Born out of the challenges of COVID-19, CCC began by delivering food and prescriptions to those most in need. Since then, they’ve grown into a vital community resource, offering ongoing support, events, and connection for people across Calderdale.

Their commitment to caring for our community is truly inspiring, and they’re a shining example of what happens when kindness and action come together.

How to apply:
After the works are complete, email Yorkshire Water to start a claim:

documentmanagement@yorkshirewater.co.uk

They will send you a form to complete and return with evidence of financial losses, they consider evidence on a case by case basis. If they agree that the evidence shows that the works have caused a loss of business, they’ll make you an offer.

Please note: they will only consider a claim after the works have been completed.

Yorkshire Water will ask you to provide the evidence below:
Estimate of gross profit lost during the works

A weekly analysis of turnover (excluding VAT) for the period of the works

A weekly analysis of turnover (excluding VAT) for 52 weeks before the works

A similar analysis of point 2 and 3 above, for the previous three years

Copies of the last three sets of accounts sent to HM Revenue & Customs

If you are not able to provide accounts, copies of your last three tax returns, along with any supplementary documents.

You may find your accountant can help you, and reasonable accountancy costs (excluding VAT) will be met by Yorkshire Water if the claim is successful.

We know this road closure is the last thing anyone had on their bingo cards today… 😫

We are awaiting updates, but from what we know now, is that section by Callis Bridge via Todmorden will be closed for a week… but things can change quickly, so remain vigilant.

Please advise everyone who may not know…. the route to HX7 via Halifax is fully operational - regardless of the road signs which are still in place from last night.

Let’s not allow this set back to ruin our Christmas mood… where there is a will… there is a way… 🙏

We’ll be coming together again to reflect on lessons learned and how we might approach it in future.

👍Your feedback is vital and we will share the findings from this survey in that discussion.

🛍️ Whether you run a business with a high street presence, were taking part in Open Studios as an artist/maker, had a market stall, or run a business without a high street presence - we’d welcome your views.
