Hardcastle Crags Ranger Weekend

Would you like to learn how our rangers keep this woodland a special place to visit?

Come along to the Ranger Weekend to meet the team, join a guided walk, see fun demonstrations and take part in the family activities.

There’ll be the opportunity to find out what’s in a pond with pond dipping. We’ll be riverfly sampling and making mini bug hotels too.

Guided walks will leave at 12pm and 2pm and will take you to see some of the leaky dams installed by Slow the Flow Calderdale, recent woodland management works and the charcoal kilns.

Demonstrations of our work will take place throughout the day.

We’ll be joined by local partners; Slow the Flow Calderdale, Community Rights of Way, Pennine Prospects, Halifax Scientific Society, Calderdale Badgers and Mountain Rescue who will share information about their fantastic work.

Meet the rangers at Gibson Mill, in the middle of woods at (approx. 30-40 minutes walk from Midgehole Road car park). This event is suitable for the whole family. Dogs on leads welcome
