Event Details

Live Wild foraging courses in Hebden Bridge, West Yorkshire are a journey through the season and the senses. We focus on getting to know the land and its wild food in a deep, immersive way that makes it easy to continue learning, gathering and cooking at home.

Leave the busy day-to-day behind and connect back to the peace of the natural world at our secluded woodland site near the beautiful town of Hebden Bridge. Wander amidst bluebells and birch to discover a wide range of plants and fungi that can be used to make tasty and nutritious foods as well as potent medicines.

A big part of what excites us about foraging is tapping back into ancestral wisdom. As well as plant and fungi identification, we’ll introduce you to core bushcraft skills including an ancient firelighting technique.

The course covers an introduction to the practice of foraging and its core principles, methods of preparation and cooking, folklore & history, and the nutritional & medicinal benefits of the plants and fungi we find.

You will be offered tasty wild samples along the way, from traditional preparations such as cordials, vinegars, fruit leathers & tonics to our more modern creations such as forager’s chocolate and hedgerow ketchup. The day also includes a cook up over the campfire.
