With a wealth of history underfoot, Hebden Bridge has some of the finest views in West Yorkshire and plenty of pubs and cafés to keep you going along the way, walking is probably the best way to experience Hebden Bridge. Potter around town, strike out for Stoodley Pike or amble along the canal.
whether you’re the proud owner of some red socks or just fancy a stroll to the next pint there’s something to suit.
We’ve put together a few of our favourite walks as well as some suggestions of starting points for you to put together your own route. Grab your boots, OL21 OS map and a waterproof (it is Yorkshire afterall) and go explore.

the canal
If you’re after a walk that gives you a great introduction to Calderdale without having to get too much of a sweat on then get on the Rochdale canal. Head East towards Mytholmroyd and Sowerby Bridge or West towards Todmorden.

Heptonstall
Heptonstall sits above Hebden Bridge and makes the perfect destination for an amble. Be warned though, it’s steep going up and with a number of great pubs at the top it can be hard going coming back down.

withens clough reservoir
If you fancy a hike up to Calderdale’s iconic Stoodley Pike then this is a great place to start. It’s also the perfect base for joining the Pennine Way and striking south towards the string of reservoirs that dot the moors.

eaves wood and colden clough
Eaves Wood is a hidden gem. Criss-crossed with old stone steps that wind their way up to Hepstonstall it’s worthy of some exploration. This route keeps you in the trees so if the weather isn’t playing ball this route offers plenty of shelter.
