With family born and raised in Halifax it was inevitable that I would end up planting firm roots somewhere in the beautiful Calder Valley and I am proud to have my business in Hebden Bridge. Heart Gallery opened on Market Street in 2006 to bring a different shopping experience to the town. Passionate about working with local and UK based designers, makers and artists. I have worked hard to realise my dream whilst hopefully changing the way people think about how they shop and where they shop. I am happy to be part of a great team that is striving to keep Hebden Bridge a destination full of great independent businesses.

Secretary

I am the owner and hands on manager of Claire Sheehan Estate Agents, with an office on Valley Road in Hebden Bridge. I have run my own Estate Agency business since 2007, having previously run Estate Agencies for the Halifax since the early 1990’s. I have lived in the beautiful Calderdale Valley since 1995 and have been fortunate to raise my family here. I am a strong advocate for Hebden Bridge and passionate about our local area. This is why I am pleased to be a part of HBBF – helping to support and promote other local businesses in HX7.

Sue Junamoon

Sue Ellis

I have lived in the Calder Valley for over 20 years and fall deeper in love with the area each year; I have raised my daughter here which I believe equipped her with the best start in life. After leaving a long career in sales I set up a retail business in Hebden Bridge called Junamoon but the nature of my business did not warrant the continuation of bricks and mortar. My wish is for Hebden Bridge to continue to flourish, hence my seat on the forum. I hope with my natural passion and enthusiasm, plus my accrued business acumen, I can help the Forum to promote our wonderful town to prosper for many years to come.

Sam Morton

I started in a small advertising agency learning skills that have underpinned my career. I became a photographic art director, moving to France to control photographic shoots and catalogues for the fashion industry. Rebranding the company and implementing protocols in three countries. On returning to my native Yorkshire six years ago I established Creative Noir up on the hills of Hebden Bridge, focusing on branding, photographic art direction and catalogue design for numerous businesses. I have branded and marketed Heptonstall Festival for 4 years.

Haley White Lion

Haley Tansey

Not born but definitely bred in the Calder Valley, Hebden Bridge and the surrounding areas have been my home and my family’s home since I was 3 years old.

After a varied career, my path was set to carry on the tradition since 1657 of serving our wonderful customers at The White Lion which is where I intend to remain and see Hebden Bridge go from strength to strength housing a strong community and successful independent retailers, artisans and smart ethical businesses.

My seat on the Forum is to help promote the uniquely wonderful Hebden Bridge in order for everyone, residents and businesses alike, to prosper and continue to enjoy being part of the future.

Val Cryne
Vice chair

Hi I’m Val Cryne I have lived and worked in Hebden Bridge for the last thirty years after slipping under the wire at border control from Lancashire!! I have been an active member of the Hebden Bridge Business Forum for the last 5 years. I was involved with the team which took Hebden Bridge on to win The Great British High Street 2016. Although I no longer have a business in the town I am still very involved in promoting the fabulous independent shops and businesses that we have here. I’m always around and available to chat about what we do at the Business Forum.

I now work for the local family insurance business ‘Ryburne Brokers & Co’, established for over 50 years and based on Market Street, Hebden Bridge. I am a strong advocate for Hebden Bridge and passionate about our local area having lived here for 26 years with my husband Simon, raising our three children.

Simon Waring

I am a partner in Ryburne Brokers and Co, independent insurance brokers who advise and arrange on all types of insurances, personal and commercial. We are one of the longest established firms and employers in Hebden Bridge. I was born and raised in Hebden Bridge, moved away after Uni but returned in 1993 with my wife Paula where we raised our 3 children. I’m passionate about Hebden Bridge and have seen the town struggle, re-invent itself and prosper. I believe a strong community needs a vibrant and successful local business core, where we all support each other and the town.

Jo Dragonfly Boutique

Jo Gas

I am a  local lady from Todmorden where I have lived most of my life.  After leaving school I trained as a hairdresser and worked for many years in Hebden Bridge. I then went on to work at Calderdale College,  I was there for 19 years and loved working in education where I could make a real difference to people’s lives through education.

Over the last few years and after a serious health scare I dreamed of opening a stylish ladies clothing boutique. I have a love for fashion and as my partner would say “I am very good at shopping”.  I made the brave decision to make my dream a reality, secured a prime location on the square in Hebden Bridge and  Dragonfly Boutique was borne.

I believe that good customer service, welcoming, friendly and helpful is the key to a successful business alongside listening to your customer needs. I wanted to create an environment where customers feel at ease looking at the goods, taking their time and enjoy their shopping experience.

I am passionate about supporting fellow independent local businesses and working alongside like minded people to improve and make a difference to businesses and tourism locally.
