Rick’s. Mexican. Streetfood. The clue’s in the title really. But then this place doesn’t need a fancy name because the food does all the talking. Local lad Rick started this family business in 2014, but the queues at his market stall grew so long that he soon opened up this fun and funky little place on Crown Street. Today, Rick serves the best burritos you’ve ever eaten, packed with his now legendary homemade fillings like spicy beef chilli, chipotle en adobo chicken, or slow-cooked Dr Pepper pulled pork. From time to time there’s even goat!
This being Hebden, there are veggie, vegan and gluten-free options too of course, with three different sizes to agonise over. Every burrito is made to order with your personal mix of rice, salad, refried beans, sour cream, cheese and jalapenos, plus a mind-boggling array of imported and homemade hot sauces. Don’t like burritos? Bonkers! Don’t worry, there are quesadillas and rice bowls too, or just stop by for an authentic Jarritos soda all the way from Mexico. Apart from the specialities Rick sources himself, everything fresh is bought from as near as possible, so you can stuff your face knowing you’re helping local suppliers.
There’s outdoor seating or you can take away, and you can even book Rick’s events service for your wedding, work do, or a wonderful birthday fiesta! The future’s looking tasty too, with new dishes like tacos on the cards, plus indoor seating, weekend and evening opening, and even Mexican beers coming soon. We’ll drink to that!
