Old Gate Bar & Restaurant Hebden Bridge

The characterful Old Gate fits perfectly into the fabric of everyday Hebden life, and today it’s a firm favourite with locals and visitors alike. It’s very much a family affair too, with a comfortable and impressive interior designed, built and furnished by talented members of the family that owns it. Look out for the pub’s stunning stained glass window depicting a local scene, plus themed artwork on everything from cycling and canal boats to the local music scene.

Upstairs had a complete refurbishment in Spring 2019, and it’s the place to head for a restaurant dining experience. Choose from tantalising à la carte or 2/3 course set menus, each featuring dishes made using locally sourced ingredients wherever possible. There are cocktails here too, just in case you’ve tried every one of the massive selection of hand pulled real ales, international and local craft beers, and carefully curated wines on offer at the friendly bar downstairs. You can also eat downstairs from a separate bar menu full of classic favourites, all beautifully prepared to order.

There’s plenty of outdoor seating for when the weather’s fine, or two cosy fires for the colder months, and wheelchair access here includes the toilet facilities. Don’t forget to check online for music events, and remember to arrive early – it gets good and busy!
