In a region so full of gorgeous art and talented artists, it’s only right that we have some great independent galleries too. Hope Gallery is one such venue, and it’s a real little gem well worth seeking out.
Owner Caroline is extremely friendly and knowledgeable, but most importantly of all she has a fantastic eye for spotting beautiful and original art.Her uncanny knack has served her well, and her gallery is crammed full of emerging and established artists from Calderdale, the wider UK and even abroad, all producing the kind of work that can literally give you goose bumps. This place isn’t about grabbing a picture to match your sofa; it’s about finding art that flicks a switch and really makes you feel something – typically a heady mixture of wonder and joy. It’s very much art to connect with, because, as Caroline says, it’s not what it looks like, it’s how it makes you feel.
The collections here are wonderfully eclectic, with a wide variety of mediums and subjects on show, from contemporary photography and ceramics through to captivating abstracts and gorgeous large-scale landscapes.A keen sense of mood and atmosphere unites all of the work, and Caroline points out that she only exhibits and sells work she really connects with herself. The pieces are all by living artists too, so buying here means you’re supporting a working artist – and possibly a local one – as well as acquiring something unique and beautiful.
You can check the gallery’s website for more info, contact details, and to see and buy pieces from Caroline’s wonderful collections.
