Don’t you just love those shops that sell a little bit of this, a little bit of that? Homely at Hebden fits the bill nicely, so it’s the perfect place to while away time choosing everything from gorgeous gifts and fun gimmicks to a fabulous piece of up-cycled furniture. Owners Michelle and Sarah have created a unique and typically Hebdenesque shop here: difficult to pigeonhole and all the better for it.
If there has to be a theme, it’s interiors. You can buy top-quality wall and furniture paint by Annie Sloan, the original name in ‘chalk’ paint. Don’t forget to grab your tools and brushes while you’re here. There are things like funky photo frames, soft furnishings, lamps with home-made shades and all sorts of ornamental knick-knacks, including personalised wall signs. Buying for someone else? You’ll need a nice card plus some gorgeous giftwrap to present everything in – Homely has that covered too.
Furniture is another speciality, with original pieces often brought over from France then lovingly restored and up-cycled in a wide range of styles. You can buy what’s already here or bring your own stuff and ask for a makeover, and Michelle will even come to your home and repaint larger bits of furniture in-situ.
The shop is open seven days every week, and you can keep up to date through its busy Instagram and Facebook feeds, or check their website for the latest seasonal goodies.
