In a town full of unique and fabulous independent businesses, the Fox & Goose co-operative pub is right at home. Rescued from closure in 2014 by 300 loyal locals, today it’s a friendly community-owned pub that continues to flourish as a much-loved social hub. It’s an award-winner too, in 2022 earning the coveted title of Halifax and Calderdale CAMRA Pub of the Year.
The Fox & Goose serves a delicious range of real ales from local independent breweries, plus craft cider, continental lager and plenty of great wines and spirits. There are soft and hot drinks as well of course, plus good hearty bar snacks.
Events are another big attraction, from book launches and art exhibitions to quiz nights and whisky tastings. The music scene is also lively, including Gypsy Jazz, Bluegrass, Blues Jam and Irish sessions, not to mention Folk and Ambient DJ sets.
Walkers and their dogs are more than welcome, which is handy when you see the fantastic location, closely surrounded by glorious Pennine hills and their famous footpaths.
From its snug rooms and a cosy open fire downstairs to the covered hillside garden upstairs, the Fox & Goose offers a welcoming environment all year round. Little wonder it’s enjoyed by locals and visitors alike. A locally owned pub that’s universally popular – we’ll drink to that!
