What are they doing to our town?
We have representatives from the Environment Agency ready to talk about the works scheduled to start in Hebden Bridge Town Centre this Autumn. As well as providing an overview, they will answer any questions you might have. Details of the scheme can be viewed via the Eye On Calderdale website.
The HBBF Committee does not believe these works are worth the cost and disruption they will bring to our Town which is still trying to recover from the affects that the Mytholmroyd works have caused. We would like to see the work in Hebden Bridge delayed until at least next year to give us some respite. We believe the plans are not sufficient to cope with floods equal to those of 2012 or indeed 2015 – so what’s the point? What do you think?
If you share our views or have your own opinions then please do come along and make your voice heard.
We also hope to have speakers from businesses in Mytholmroyd who will talk about their recent experiences in dealing with the upheaval and making claims for compensation. Simon Waring from Ryburne Insurance Brokers will offer tips on how to prepare your business to maximise your chances of a successful compensation claim – the money is allocated but you need to be aware of the pitfalls in making a claim.
No doubt you will now have also heard about Calderdale Council’s Corridor Improvement Programme – bringing yet more disruption and upheaval to the town and scheduled to coincide with the EA works Autumn 2020.
Following our vociferous objections Calderdale Council have at least extended the consultation period until the 14th February. If time allows, we hope to have further discussions regarding the council’s plans. Follow the link to voice your concerns if you have yet to do so, thank you.
Hope to see you there – a bar plus tea and coffee sales available – spaces will be limited so please book in!
