Medicine is about to undergo the biggest single change there has ever been. No branch of medicine will be unaffected. This is medicine focused on the understanding of disease at the level of the molecule and the design of therapies at the level of the individual patient. It is called precision medicine.

Professor Freemont is Head of Undergraduate Medical Education for Manchester Medical School. He is Professor of Osteoarticular Pathology at the University and previously held the post of Head of the School of Biomedicine.
