We love our grub in Hebden Bridge, and we love it even more when it’s local, healthy and ethical. Well, the workers’ cooperative at Valley Organics ticks every one of those boxes, with its marvellous mix of fruit, vegetables and wholefoods. The good folk behind Valley Organics are an interesting bunch from all sorts of backgrounds, including organic farming, community work and business development. What they share is a passion for supporting the local economy, shrinking food miles and helping local growers and producers, and they’ve been doing their wonderful thing for over ten years now. They really walk the talk too, with cooperative decision-making and an equal pay scheme for staff. So, what about the products themselves? Here you’ll find all the fruit, veg and dairy products you’re ever likely to need, much of it made or grown in the Calder Valley, and all of it fairly priced with value in mind. There are lots of our favourite ethical foodie brands too, plus all sorts of delicious freshly baked breads, wholefoods, and bodycare and lifestyle products. Can’t get to the Market Street store? Don’t worry – there’s an online shop and even a veg box delivery service. We reckon eating healthily has never been easier, or tastier!
