Mick’s a Lancashire lad but you know what, he’s actually alright. In fact he’s better than alright – he’s blooming marvellous.
Mad about the great outdoors, he’s lived everywhere from the Lake District and Llanberis to sunny California, but naturally he found his true home here in Hebden.
So what’s Mick on this website for? Well, like lots of Hebden people, he’s got various professional hats, and they all revolve around his three big passions: writing, photography and outdoor adventure.
Today, he’s a successful independent publisher with a string of well-known guidebooks to his name, and more on the way.
Mick’s a pioneer, really. He cut his teeth as editor of UKclimbing.com and also launched the super-successful Rockfax climbing guides, still going strong today.
Now he owns fotoVUE: publishers of a brilliant collection of popular photography guidebooks covering places like Scotland, the Lake District and, you guessed it, Hebden Bridge coming soon. Mick doesn’t just run fotoVUE, he writes and takes photos for that and other publications, and you can buy or commission his stunning photography too.
Consultancy is Mick’s other big specialism, and he’s the go-to man for expertise on publishing and marketing for the outdoor industry, with clients including climbing kit giants, DMM.
