March’s Friends of the Picture House screening will be Nicolas Roeg’s 1971 classic Walkabout. Set in Australia, it stars Jenny Agutter as a young girl who is lost in the Outback with her brother after an incident of shocking violence.
An Aboriginal man arrives and wordlessly begins to help the children. The film has an acclaimed mystical and hallucinatory quality and will be shown on Saturday, March 10 at 4.30pm.
The screening will be preceded at 3.15pm by the Friends of the Picture House AGM. The informal meeting is open to anyone who has an interest in the Picture House or who wants to get involved in helping to ensure its future at the heart of Hebden Bridge’s cultural life.
